The pieces we’ve purchased are by Accept & Proceed, and are based on statistics around the hours of dark in 2008 and average UK rainfall between 1971-2000. Never did we think something so, well, scientific, could look so appealing!

Benefits of using the site include using the forum to communicate with other creatives, graphics tutorials to assist with tricky problems or learn new tricks, as well as links to influential websites.

For the more experienced among you, DA offers interviews with the very best designers, daily design news and even job opportunities. This mix of features ensures that the community benefits everyone from the student to the design start-up through to the multi-disciplinary agency.

My favourite interview was with Rob Chiu of The Ronin. Rob has worked for clients such as Leica, Nokia, BBC, EMI, Greenpeace & Channel 4, and is currently represented by New York based Curious Pictures.

We’ve recently moved offices, and in search of new inspiration thought I’d share some of our thoughts and experiences of looking for fun and quirky things to brighten up our space.

Research shows that the happiest and most productive people enjoy being in their work environment, so it makes sense to jazz things up a bit. Whether that’s adding a lick of paint to the wall or introducing something fun and interactive to the office who cares! As long as everyone’s happy, right?

The weird and the wonderful

I first did a bit of research on some seeeeriously cool work spaces, and managed to find a site that did all the hard work for us. It’s called 10 seeeeeriously cool work spaces. Pixar’s offices came top of the list, although Mindlab came a close second. And I was particularly taken with the conference bike!

Gettin’ arty farty

The first place we checked out for wall art (because I’ve been meaning to buy some of their products for a while) was blik. The idea of sticking these fun objects to the wall and moving them around or replacing them to suit your mood is muchos fun.

What we’re planning to do is create our own, similar to these ones created by Joy for Habitat. So not only do you have something fun and funky to show off to clients, you can always say it was created by moi! Now that WOULD be funky!
