Set in the Hampshire countryside on the edge of the New Forest National Park, Chewton Glen Hotel & Spa is one of the finest luxury hotels in the UK and a member of Relais & Châteaux. We were awarded the contract to design their new website.
Working with partners Occupancy Marketing, we assisted with the website planning, strategy and design. We were also required to redesign Chewton Glen's email marketing to ensure a consistent style across the board.
Our brief was to create a website that was in line with a major re-branding exercise that had been undertaken on all marketing material. Our main remit was to showcase Chewton Glen as 'One of the Top Hotels in the World', as voted at the 2010 Condé Nast Traveller awards.
The website was to be designed to handle a lot of information in a clear and simple way, with a prominent booking function, email marketing sign up, latest offers and events. We were also asked to incorporate a global gallery function to incorporate images and online video.
We produced two design routes for comparison. These were presented to the client and project partners, and the chosen website design made extensive use of imagery through a combined banner, gallery and online video function.
The design improves the placement of gift vouchers, making them more visible on the home page and throughout the webite. An online booking area is also featured on each page. This changes dependent on room, restaurant or spa booking.
The redesign played a part in turning visitors from “lookers” to “bookers”, with online bookings up 163% in the two months following the launch. In this time Chewton Glen recouped their investment in the project, a staggering statistic, which shows that our focus ison design as well as performance.
