Magenta Ink! is an online stationery boutique owned and run by established graphic designer Adrienne Kerr. Alongside her keen eye for style, Adrienne has many years worth of experience in the social stationery and wedding industry.

Creative State first worked with Adrienne in 2007 and has since collaborated with her on a number of projects including ongoing website developmentsemail marketing campaigns and, more recently, the revamp of her online shop.

The new e-commerce website was to adopt a minimalist style and editorial feel, akin to online magazines. Adrienne maintains ongoing communication with users, through her blog and Twitter, so it was important to ensure her updates featured prominently on the website.

While a number of online shops cater for the ordering of wedding stationery online,  it can be a complex process due to the various printing techniques, typestyle and ink choices on offer. Our challenge was to make this an enjoyable experience for the customer.

We worked to improve the overall user experience by signposting content that would be of interest to those looking to buy off-the-shelf items, as well as those looking for custom stationery. Most important was the development of a simple and effective online ordering system.

Users have the facility to add motifs to their designs and have their very own personal or wedding monograms created. We also took steps to include widgets for Twitter and Flickr, as well as posts from the existing Magenta Ink! blog, so the website is continually kept fresh and up to date.

With every feature we incorporated we made sure we were adding value, and not just complexity, to the website design process. The website has gained exposure in a variety of wedding publications and is also recommended as the go to website for design stationery on The Good Web Guide.
